Radar System Checks
and Adjustments
➤ To adjustthe radarto eliminatethe alignmenterror:
1. Ifavisualrelativebearingofatargethasbeendetermined,asin2.1above,
setan EBL to thisrelativebearing.
2. PresstheMENU keytodisplaythesetupsoftkeysandselect RADAR SET UP.

3. Usethetrackpadto move the selectionbaronthe RadarSet Up Menuto
BEARING ALIGNMENT.
4. Usethesoftkeystoadjustthe BearingAlignmentslider and to rotatethe
radarpicture.As soon as you starttheadjustment,themenu is clearedso
thatthe rotationof the picturecan be seen. Thekeyscanpressedandheld,
torotate the picturequickly, ratherthan in singlesteps.
5. Rotatethe pictureto place thetarget underthe EBL, or Heading Marker,
dependingon themethodusedtoobtainthecorrectrelativebearing.
6. Whenthe bearingalignmenterrorhasbeeneliminatedpressENTER tore-
displaythe Radar SetUp menu.
7. PressENTER againtoreturnto the set up softkeys, thenpressCLEAR to
returntothenormalradar screen.
8. Afteradjustingthe radar, alwayscheckthe bearingalignmentat the next
opportunity.Usuallythebow alignmentto targetis the most convenient
method,seeIf the vesselis under way (inreasonablycalm conditions):on
page 8-18.
Display Timing Adjustment
Thedisplaytimingcanbe affected bythelengthofthecableused to connect
thescannertothedisplayunit.This in turnaffects the shortrangeaccuracy
shownonthedisplay.Ifyouhaveextended(or reduced)yourinter-unitcable,
youwill need to checkthedisplaytimingbeforeusing the systemfor
navigation.
